Travel arrangements for participants to attend the 2019 World Scholars Cup Global Round in Beijing, China and Durban, South Africa have now been finalized. As a result of our club members’ tremendous achievements during the Lusaka Regional Round which was held at Rhodes Park School and at Government Complex on 16 and 17 February, forty-nine teams qualified to attend the Global Round. For convenience and to achieve economy of scale, travel is being arranged together with the teams from Rhodes Park School.
In order to offer a flexible option to parents, we are pleased to announce that the two schools have opted to send learners to either the Beijing or Durban Rounds. Parents can choose to sponsor their child to attend either the Beijing or Durban Rounds.
This is a unique opportunity for children to travel and be exposed to one of the Globe’s leading academic events where they will join over 3000 scholars from over 50 countries, and will experience the full range of competitive team events as well as community-building ones such as the Debate Showcase, Scavenger Hunt, Keynote Speeches, Panel Discussions, and the Signature Scholars’ Bowl. Every participant will walk away with new friends, new discoveries, and very large alpacas – and all participating teams will be able to apply or even pre-qualify for spots at the year-end Tournament of Champions at Yale University, USA.
The tour will also provide some relaxing moments away from the competition venues as pupils will have a chance to visit some of the tourist attractions of Beijing and Durban.
Details of the travel options and costs have been circulated to parents of qualifying pupils.
