Two members of our World Scholars Cup club, Mukuka Tembo and Jabulani Chintu and their patron, Clara Mutunga have departed today for the Global Round in Durban, South Africa. The group is travelling with their colleagues from Rhodes Park School.
Over the next week, they will participate in academic competitions and social activities as they interact with thousands of other delegates from around the world.
We are hoping for a great haul of medal and trophies similar to that achieved by the larger group that attended the similar event in Beijing, China in June.
The World Scholars Cup is a program which inspires the passion of learning, and empowers participants with a toolkit of new skills and a sense of global citizenship. It promotes reading, researching and communication skills in learners. It has three Rounds, with the earliest being the Lusaka Round which was held at Rhodes Park School in February 2019, the Global Round and the Finale which is called the Tournament of Champions, held at Yale University in the United States of America.
This year, Woodford School Lusaka Scholars were given the opportunity to attend one of two Global Rounds, and in June, six members attended the event held in Beijing, China.
We thank parents of the travelling pupils for their backing of the travel arrangements. We wish our pupils safe passage to and from the World Scholar’s Cup.
