The Africa Science Buskers event brings together young scientific minds from across the continent to showcase their innovative skills and passion for science communication. This year’s event, held in Zimbabwe, featured 350 participants from over 20 countries, including Indonesia, Nigeria, Botswana, South Africa, Pakistan, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The competition was intense, with students presenting ground-breaking projects and ideas demonstrating their scientific skills.

Among the participants, 13 students from Woodford School Lusaka represented our school with distinction. This year’s competition was particularly fierce, with students from diverse backgrounds presenting various science projects. We are excited to share with you that three of our students managed to scoop gold medals, and another collected a bronze medal. This is evidence of our student’s ability to compete on global platforms, a tradition we are proud of.

Thank you to all 13 students for representing us well in Harare. A special thank you to Ethan Muchiya, Twapegwa Mudenda, and Mwansa Chileshe, all from 6 Blue, for scooping three gold medals out of the eleven presented at this year’s Science Buskers. We also congratulate Mattaniah Lalusha of Grade 7 Green for scooping a bronze medal.

The three gold medalists will now be honoured to represent Zambia at the Global Science Challenge in Abu Dhabi, an incredible opportunity to showcase their talents on a global stage further.

The outstanding performance of our students is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the excellent support they received.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the parents for their unwavering support and encouragement, which played a crucial role in our student’s success. Congratulations to Mr. Chisenga for your hard work ensuring this success. We are incredibly proud of you all.
