We are pleased to inform you that we have taken successful steps at researching and implementing enhancements to our current Remote Learning programme, especially for pupils in non-examination classes who are not yet on campus. The enhancements integrated to our Remote Learning will offer much more interaction between students and their teachers, personalized learning experience, collaboration and development of critical thinking skills among the students.

As a leading school, our practice is always to find means to improve our way of teaching. This has now been achieved with the integration of G Suite for Education into our Remote Learning Programme.

This is a collection of tools that help the teacher to manage communication and engage pupils to academic activities in a more effective way.

The G Suite for Education tools will enable the teachers achieve the following:

  1. Schedule online live classes and send invitation to pupil’s calendars as per the academic timetable
  2. Engage learners to work collaboratively online and challenge students to improve their interpersonal skills.
  3. Offer varied assessment for learning and elaborate feedback that will enhance the students’ progress.
  4. Teach in a secured online learning environment with a variety of tools. This will entail that students receive individualised email addresses. e.g. firstname.lastname@woodford.school

Further, we have embarked on targeted training to hone the skills of our teachers as they continue to strive to ensure that Woodford School Lusaka`s Remote learning experience reflects the 21st century skills – these are: critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication.

Learning activities will now be on Google Classroom. G Suite for Education applications offer prompt feedback, which is essential for student engagement. Students will continue logging into our Student Portal as their window to the many other aspects of school life.

Instructional guides on how to log into the Woodford School Lusaka G Suite for Education have been sent out to the email address of each child and parents.

Finally, we ask you parents and guardians to continue your positive approach to this Remote Learning Programme and take advantage of this enhancement to the programme to ensure that your children do not lag behind but learn, optimally. We continue to recognise our role of preparing children for their futures and certainly appreciating how technology will continue to be part of our teaching and learning in years to come.
