From April 14 to April 19, our Grade 7 students embarked on an unforgettable journey to Livingstone: Zambia’s vibrant tourism capital. Over six days of adventure, discovery, and camaraderie, they explored the country’s most treasured historical, cultural, and natural landmarks. This annual educational tour not only deepened their understanding of the world but also created lasting memories and strengthened bonds among peers.
The journey began with several enriching stopovers, including the scenic Munali Hills, Nakambala Sugar Estate, and the Choma Museum, where students enjoyed lunch and learned about the Southern Province’s rich history. In Kalomo, they visited Kalundu and Isamu Pati before finally arriving in Livingstone, where they checked into the Chrismar Hotel.
The week’s itinerary was packed with hands-on learning. Visiting the Livingstone Museum provided insight into Zambia’s national heritage, featuring exhibits on David Livingstone, pre-colonial civilisations, and the country’s independence. At Maramba Cultural Village, students experienced traditional Zambian customs firsthand, deepening their appreciation for local culture.
One of the major highlights was the visit to the National Art Gallery, where students admired contemporary Zambian artwork. The thrill of zip-lining across the Batoka Gorge pushed students beyond their comfort zones, fostering courage and excitement. Later in the week, students toured the Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula Airport to learn about aviation operations. At Mukuni Big Five Safari, they got close to lions, cheetahs, and other majestic wildlife. A stop at the iconic Big Tree preceded the awe-inspiring tour of Victoria Falls and the Boiling Point, an experience that left everyone marvelling at nature’s power.
The learning continued at Mukuni Village, where students engaged with the local community and explored traditional leadership and crafts themes. A visit to the Crocodile Farm provided valuable insights into wildlife conservation efforts. Students enjoyed refreshing swims and reflective evening lessons throughout the trip, reinforcing the day’s experiences.
This incredible tour celebrated the students’ hard work and shone as a shining example of the power of experiential learning. We sincerely thank the teachers, management, and parents who supported this journey.
