On 5 and 6 February, the Grade 5 classes undertook an educational tour to Chief Chamuka’s Chiefdom in the Chisamba district. The tour was aimed at allowing our students to gain a greater appreciation of the traditional leadership system and the role they play in our governance system.
During this tour, our students could see the various economic activities carried out in the chiefdom, including small-scale farming. They also appreciated how traditional leaders play a crucial role in addressing social issues such as early marriages. Their itinerary also included visiting a community school where they could interact and play with the local children.
The tour’s highlight was sitting down to share a meal with his Royal Highness Chief Chamuka. This allowed our students to ask the chief numerous questions on multiple topics to gain an even greater appreciation of life in rural areas.
We are grateful to his Highness for consistently hosting our students.
