At Woodford School Lusaka, Empathy Week is a cherished tradition where our community comes together to explore the powerful impact of empathy. This year, we’re on a “Journey to Self-Compassion,” helping our students discover the importance of embracing self-compassion as a foundation for extending kindness and understanding to others.

Each day is filled with activities that encourage empathy, kindness, and compassion. Wednesday’s event was particularly heartwarming as our students took time to honour and appreciate senior citizens. Dressed as older adults, they shared stories and photos of their grandparents, reflecting on the wisdom and life experiences of the elderly.

This touching activity fostered deep respect and admiration for older generations, reminding our students of the value of those who have walked before us. It was a beautiful lesson in empathy that deepened their connection to the past and strengthened their appreciation for the wisdom that comes with age.
