Sport and rugby in particular, is an ideal vehicle for developing young people. Rugby is valued as a sport for men and women, boys and girls. It builds teamwork, understanding, co-operation and respect for fellow athletes.
The school will this term introduce Touch Rugby. We are introducing rugby as an extra-curricular activity to expose the children to the game, encourage a healthy lifestyle but most importantly, for them to have fun. By delivering rugby as an extra-curricular sport within our school, we will be providing each child with opportunities to develop across the four capacities – successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.
As this is an introduction, the children shall be taught the rules and a child-friendly version known as touch rugby. This does not involve physical contact. Both boys and girls from Reception upwards are encouraged to come. The games will be played on Saturday morning. The school will communicate when the games will commence.
The instructor is a former rugby international player who played for Lusaka Rugby Club and the Zambia 7’s and 15’s national teams.
