Woodford School Lusaka recently celebrated STEM Week 2026 under the theme, “Future Innovators: Solving Tomorrow’s Problems Today,” providing learners with an exciting opportunity to explore the interconnected worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through hands-on learning and innovation.

The week began with an inspiring presentation by Chinmaye Jasti, who shared her work in transforming recycled plastics into reusable granules. Her story demonstrated how creativity, innovation and environmental responsibility can come together to address real-world challenges. Learners were encouraged to think critically about how they can use knowledge and resources within their own communities to make a positive impact.

Throughout the week, learners engaged in a wide range of practical STEM activities designed to develop creativity, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Mathematics and Engineering concepts came to life as learners designed and constructed cars, bridges, towers and other structures using simple materials. These activities challenged them to apply classroom knowledge in meaningful and engaging ways.

One of the highlights of the week was the Engineering Challenge, where learners worked collaboratively to build bridges and towers capable of passing strength and stability tests. The challenge showcased not only technical ability but also teamwork, resilience, communication and innovative thinking.

Technology Day added another layer of excitement with an interactive Inter-House STEM Quiz hosted on Kahoot!. Learners enthusiastically tested their knowledge while developing digital literacy skills, teamwork and quick-thinking abilities in a fun and competitive environment.

The week concluded with a vibrant STEM Exhibition, where learners proudly showcased projects that reflected their creativity, curiosity and growing understanding of STEM concepts. The exhibition provided an opportunity for learners to share their ideas, demonstrate their learning and celebrate their achievements with the wider school community.

STEM Week 2026 was a powerful reminder that learning extends far beyond the classroom. By encouraging inquiry, experimentation and collaboration, Woodford School Lusaka continues to nurture confident, curious and innovative learners who are equipped to meet the challenges and opportunities of the future.

As we celebrate the success of this year’s programme, we look forward to inspiring even more young minds to explore, create and innovate through STEM education.
